For your info, it's good to know that the majority of the cPanel Hosting offerings on the present-day website hosting marketplace are furnished by a quite inconsiderable business segment (as far as yearly cash flow is concerned) named reseller hosting. Reseller web hosting is a sort of a small business niche, which supplies a big number of different web hosting brand names, yet supplying the very same services: mostly cPanel web hosting solutions. This is bad news for everyone. Why? Because at least 98% of the website hosting offerings on the whole web hosting marketplace supply the very same solution: cPanel. There's no diversity at all. Even the cPanel Hosting price tags are identical. Quite identical. Leaving for those in need of a top web hosting service virtually no other web hosting platform/web hosting CP choice. Thus, there is just a single fact: out of more than 200k website hosting trademarks around the world, the non-cPanel based ones are less than 2, mark that one...

Two hundred thousand "Hosting service providers", all cPanel-based, yet differently dubbed

The Hosting "variety" and the web hosting "offerings" Google shows to us boil down to just one and the same thing: cPanel. Under hundreds of thousands of different web hosting brand names. Imagine you are only a regular person who's not very well familiar with (as most of us) with the website development procedures and the web hosting platforms, which actually power the different domain names and web sites. Are you ready to make your hosting decision? Is there any web hosting alternative you can pick? Of course there is, today there are more than two hundred thousand web hosting companies in existence. Formally. Then where is the difficulty? Here's where: more than ninety eight percent of these 200,000+ unique web hosting brand names around the world will give you literally the same cPanel website hosting Control Panel and platform, named differently, with precisely the same price tags! WOW! That's how great the variety on the current web hosting market is... Period.

The Hosting LOTTO we are all part of

Simple mathematics demonstrates that to chance upon a non-cPanel based web hosting corporation is a colossal stroke of fortune. There is a less than one in 50 chance that a phenomenon like that will take place! Less than one in fifty...

The upsides and downsides of the cPanel Hosting solution

Let's not be harsh with cPanel. After all, in the years 2001-2004 cPanel was fashionable and perhaps satisfied all web hosting market requirements. In short, cPanel can do the job for you if you have just one single domain to host. But, if you have more domain names...

Disadvantage Number 1: A dumb domain folder configuration

If you have two or more domains, however, be very careful not to erase fully the add-on ones (that's how cPanel will dub each new hosted domain, which is not the default one: an add-on domain). The files of the add-on domains are very simple to delete on the web hosting server, since they all are located into the root folder of the default domain name, which is the very well known public_html folder. Each add-on domain name is a folder located inside the folder of the default domain name. Like a sub-folder. Next time try not to delete the files of the add-on domains, please. See for yourself how marvelous cPanel's domain name folder structure is:

public_html (here my-default-domain.com is placed)
public_html/my-family (a folder part of my-default-domain.com)
public_html/my-second-domain.com (an add-on domain)
public_html/my-second-wife (a folder part of my-default-domain.com)
public_html/my-second-wife.net (an add-on domain)
public_html/my-third-domain.com (an add-on domain)
public_html/my-third-wife (a folder part of my-default-domain.com)
public_html/my-third-wife.net (an add-on domain)
public_html/rebeka (a folder part of my-default-domain.com)
public_html/rebeka.my-third-wife.net (a sub-domain of an add-on domain)

Are you becoming bewildered? We positively are!

Drawback Number 2: The same mail folder structure

The e-mail folder configuration on the server is strictly the same as that of the domains... Making the same mistake twice?!? The sysadmin chaps strongly increase their belief in God when dealing with the mail folders on the electronic mail server, hoping not to bungle things up too harshly.

Negative Aspect Number Three: An utter absence of domain name administration GUIs

Do we have to refer to the sheer absence of a contemporary domain administration tool - a location where you can: register/relocate/renew/park or manage domains, change domain names' Whois info, secure the Whois info, change/set up name servers (DNS) and DNS resource records? cPanel does not incorporate such a "modern" user interface at all. That's a mammoth inconvenience. An inexcusable one, we wish to point out...

Negative Side No.4: Multiple login places (minimum two, maximum 3)

How about the necessity for an additional login to utilize the invoice transaction, domain name and tech support administration GUI? That's apart from the cPanel account login credentials you've been already given by the cPanel Hosting supplier. Sometimes, on the basis of the invoicing tool (particularly designed for cPanel only) the cPanel Hosting vendor is using, the earnest clients can wind up with two extra login locations (1: the invoicing transaction/domain management software solution; 2: the trouble ticket support user interface), ending up with an aggregate of 3 login locations (counting cPanel).

Negative Aspect No.5: More than a hundred and twenty web hosting CP sections to grasp... rapidly

cPanel presents for your consideration more than a hundred and twenty menus inside the web hosting Control Panel. It's a fabulous idea to become acquainted with each of them. And you'd better get to know them rapidly... That's quite impudent on cPanel's side.

With all due respect, we have a rhetorical question for all cPanel-based Hosting distributors:

As far as we are aware of, it's not the year 2001, is it? Mark that one as well...
